Speaking Opportunities

Carrie’s journey to the stage as a keynote didn’t start from a desire. She wasn’t longing for the stage and spotlight. After accepting an opportunity with the Tempe Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Luncheon in 2013, she was thrown into the fire. She had no idea what she was in for. She wrote a 45-minute keynote, practiced with a keynote speaker coach, and took the stage in front of a few hundred women for the first time.

Since then, she’s had several hundred keynotes in front of thousands. And it never gets easier.

These days, she hits the stage to share her keynote about caregiving for her husband and how she overcame burnout. She calls it “Saving Lives & Doing Dishes.”

Burnout Recovery with Carrie

Burnout doesn’t just happen in emergency rooms or high-stress jobs —it’s quietly impacting middle managers 35 and under, executives who have been on the job for decades, and seeping into the cracks throughout entire organizations. It’s everywhere. In fact, 50% of all American employees are out seeking a new job right now, while employed.

In Saving Lives & Doing Dishes, best-selling author Carrie Severson shares a transformative, research-backed approach to recovering from burnout and retraining the nervous system, rooted in both professional expertise and lived experience.

This keynote blends storytelling with science, offering participants practical tools they can immediately apply to reduce stress, strengthen resilience, and create healthier workplace cultures.

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate three research-based techniques for retraining the nervous system to support sustainable burnout recovery.

  • Upon completion, participants will know a cognitive reframing technique to help reduce stress and support emotional well-being.

  • Discuss how to perform a self-assessment to recognize nervous system activation states and respond with appropriate recovery strategies.
