A few days after I delivered my keynote, Saving Lives & Doing Dishes to the American Healthcare Association in Las Vegas, I got on a plane with my husband and we went to Spokane.
I said yes to giving the same talk to a different group of healthcare professionals. The Northwest Regional Primary Care Association is a great group of healthcare professionals, and I’ve worked with them for a few years.
We got to Spokane on Saturday and checked into the conference. Gavin and I roamed around and then drove over to Coeur d’Alene for the week! It was always a city on our bucket list! And it did not disappoint.
We loved it! I found a great VRBO off of 3rd Street and Indiana Avenue, just blocks from downtown, the lake, great bakeries, and coffee shops. I was in a happy place, and Gavin was too! He went fishing, we hiked up Mineral Ridge together, and reconnected as a couple.
And then on Monday, a week after my big talk in Vegas, I delivered it again in a smaller setting. It was still nerve-wracking, but I was definitely more relaxed this time around.
This time, I engaged with the audience a bit more since there were just 100 in the room. And I wasn’t on a stage but just in front of them with a microphone.
I didn’t hold back on my story. I did get more laughs, and it felt a bit more informal.
I’m not sure what setting I like more – the big stages or the smaller setting. I appreciate them both.
Gavin walked around Spokane while I was delivering my keynote. And afterward, we drove right back over to Coeur d’Alene and grabbed some steaks from Safeway before getting back to the condo.
I slept like I hadn’t slept in years that night. And normally, after I give a keynote I feel like I’ve been hit by a ton of bricks. It didn’t happen in Vegas because I downed coconut water, a banana, and took a salt bath. In Spokane, I did feel a little sick the next day.
And as the day went on, my head fog lifted and I used the day to rest.
I’m grateful for the opportunity and look forward to doing it again!
