When I was caregiving for Gavin, what I needed was for people to tell me I was doing the right thing. It’s hard. It was scary. I witnessed him being mistreated by medical staff, laughed at when he talked about his pain, and told he needed to “muscle up” and just do things he couldn’t do because the pain was too intense and he needed things like anti-anxiety meds.
Even though I developed all these nervous-system-resetting tools and have been on a self-love journey for some time, when I was in the trenches of the really hard part, what helped me the most was my friends and family sending me little love letters, happy mail packages, and text messages. I needed people to pour into me.
Caregivers need that.
And sometimes, we don’t need to be caregiving for someone with a life-threatening illness to need little pick-me-up reminders that what we’re doing in life is enough. That we’re enough.
I’m looking for your feedback on something.
Would you be interested in a little happy mail service? Do you need monthly inspirational letters in the mail reminding you that you’re enough?
Unapologetically Enough Notes is making its way out in the world right now, and I’d love to know what you would appreciate in your mailbox each month as a little self-love letter to yourself!
Send me some ideas and share this with others!
