It’s always wild to see people commenting on personal essays I wrote. And still, that’s really the point in writing them. To create conversations, bring different stories to light, and hopefully impact or change someone’s path.

The nine days that my husband spent in the long-term cancer wing played out like a medical drama. The PA who saw us weekly sent him home to die on a Monday. I raised hell with anyone and everyone I could to get him admitted to the hospital starting the second we left her office. Since there was a two-month waiting period for a feeding tube, the only way he was going to get one was in the ER.

The whole thing was a mess. There were so many people working with my husband on his cancer treatment but he fell through the cracks at every turn. And we were at a world-renowned hospital.

By Monday night was was resting in a hospital room. I was bawling in the car. And for the next week, I had to advocate for him in a way I never imagined.

Medical. Drama. 12 episodes easy from just one week in the hospital.

I wrote about the hardest experiences for HuffPost. They republished this and Yahoo picked it up.
